ER24 FamSAFE is a solution
for you (and your family) when in
a medical emergency or an accident.
The ER24 FamSAFE solution is in 3
parts, each of which is designed to enhance
the speed and quality of the medical
care you receive in a medical emergency:
- For you to be guaranteed immediate and hasslefree
access to private medical care, your medical cover
needs to be instantly verifiable.
(Medical cover on its own will relieve the financial
burden of the costs of a medical emergency; but
can be a problem to verify when minutes are precious).
ER24 FamSAFE provides very affordable
emergency medical cover which is instantly verifiable
by the ER24 Call Centre – and is designed
to ensure your access to immediate quality
medical care in an emergency.
- Personal information may be
essential to ensure your treatment in
a medical emergency is customized –
particularly when you cannot speak for yourself.
(eg you may have a particular medical condition,
allergy, or be on a medication etc. which requires
you to be treated in a certain way.) ER24 FamSAFE
members have the opportunity to provide ER24 with
any personal medical information they would like
to be included in a confidential Personal Datafile.
This datafile is only accessed by ER24 Call Centre
in a medical emergency to provide this information
to attending medical personnel – for your
benefit
- Compassionate care is increasingly
being recognized as a vital component in treating
trauma patients. Family and next-of-kin are notified
in a medical emergency.

How ER24 FamSAFE
will help you in a medical emergency ?
In summary; medical cover needs
to be immediately verifiable if you want rapid and
hasslefree access to private medical care; and providing
proof of this cover can be a problem in a medical
emergency, when minutes are precious.
ER24 FamSAFE solves this problem
by making you instantly identifiable in a medical
emergency with the ER24
Range of Personalised Identification.
Each member of ER24 FamSAFE (including all nominated
dependants) will be issued with free ER24 Personalised
Identification (with unique PIN) ; and each individual
will be allocated a Personal Datafile on which they
may record personal details relevant to their treatment
in a medical emergency (eg medical conditions, contact
details of family doctor, contacts of next of kin
etc).
In a medical emergency, one call
to the ER24 Call Centre on 084 124 will place your
care in the trust of expert medic / and paramedic
personnel. The ER24 Call Centre will direct operations
from that moment; and
- Provide advice to caller until help arrives
- Organise expert help to the scene of the emergency
and further
- Organise any necessary transportation (road
or air) to hospital.
- Meantime, the ER24 Call Centre will access
your Datafile and provide information to medical
personnel as necessary.
- Also, the ER24 Call Centre can verify your
ER24 FamSAFE cover to hospital admission administration
as necessary, and
- Call next of kin etc
- Ensure you receive the best possible ambulance
and hospital care
Which ER24 FamSAFE option is for me ?
ER24 FamSAFE provides the member
with a choice of either ResQ or AxiMED – which
have differing levels of cover.
Both ResQ and AxiMED covers the whole
family for a single premium.
- ResQ includes the combination of ER24 cover
for free (road or air) ambulance services and
free ER24 Identification. (ResQ does not include
any hospital expenses cover)
- AxiMED is our popular option, and includes
all the ER24 benefits of ResQ, and in addition
includes Hospital Expenses Cover (in event of
accidental injury). AxiMED is available with two
levels of hospital cover:
- AxiMED50 with up to R50,000 hospital cover
per person per annum; and is recommended for
members with adequate medical cover
- AxiMED100 with up to R100,000 hospital cover
per person per annum; and is recommended for
members with no – or inadequate medical
cover

NB ER24 FamSAFE is not a medical aid, nor is it an
alternative to medical aid cover:

How do I join ER24 FamSAFE and what do I get ?
There are three ways to become a
member of ER24 FamSAFE:
- Apply
online on this website
- Print
an application, complete and fax to 0866 196014
- Call 0861 723324 (SAFE24) during office hours
to speak to a trained consultant
On receipt of your completed application
for ER24 FamSAFE, you and your family will become
members from the first day of the following month,
provided your premium has been paid.
ER24 FamSAFE benefits and cover cannot
be backdated, but in the event you would like cover
prior to the first of the following month, then indicate
‘immediate cover’ on your application,
and cover will commence on the date of receipt of
your application by ER24, provided your premium has
been paid. (Please note that a full month premium
is due for any part of a month when requesting immediate
cover.)
After receiving your completed application
to ER24 FamSAFE, we will post you a Pack containing:
- A Welcome Letter providing you with important
information
- A Schedule of ER24 Benefits
- 1 X ER24 car sticker (additional issued free
on request only)
- 2 X ER24 telephone stickers
- Personalised ER24 Wallet Cards for Member and
each nominated Dependant
- A Schedule and Policy Wording of Hospital Medical
Expenses Cover (AxiMED only)
NB - Additional ER24 Identification

Hospital Medical Expenses
Cover by Hollard Insurance
- Covers each insured person up to amount specified
(R50 000 or R100 000) per annum for hospital medical
expenses incurred as a result of accidental injury
- Maximum cover per incident is R200 000 for
AxiMED50 or R400 000 for AxiMED100
- Excess (first amount) payable by Member is
R250 for each claim
- Maximum age for cover is 74 years
General
- Definition of Children: Cover for children up
to age 18 and up to 25 if full time student
- Covers you for emergencies in South Africa,
Lesotho and Swaziland
